Rowan - 16.3hh Ardennes

I was introduced to Rowan in Sept '09. His owner had bought him over from Belgium to help with her logging business. He was shod but had only ever been shod in stocks - that's not something you want to discover when you realise how big he is and that he doesn't know how to balance his body weight without leaning on you!

His shoes had been removed but he was not to happy with having his feet handled. His owner took the time to get him happy with having his feet pick up but when she picked his feet out, maggots fell from the deep infected central sulcus of the frogs on all 4 feet! Farriers were not interested in taking on this beautiful boy so his owner contact us for help.

First Visit - Sept 2009

Yes that is a £2 coin! He feet are massive taking up nearly the whole rasp!

He had deep central sulcus infection in all 4 feet and the hoof capsules were deformed.

 Early Feb 2010 - 4th Trim

Deep central sulcus infections cleared up using Red Horse Field Paste. Good bars and heel purchase. Lovely inner and outer walls, good sole concavity and a really lovely looking frog development.
